Pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj have been warned against excessive in take of pain relief and other unprescribed drugs to prevent possible kidney damage and other health problems.
A member of the Lagos State Medical Team in Mecca, Dr. Abdul Majeeb Isa-Muhammed gave the warning during a health enlightenment programme.
The medical practitioner who condemned the act of abusing drugs, particularly, paracetamol among pilgrims advised that regular consumption of water and fruits is essential to addressing pains associated with dry heat that is being experienced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia rather than the use of drugs.
Dr. Isa-Muhammed attributed the incessant weakness and pains suffered by the pilgrims to the hot weather which he said drains both water and vital minerals in the body.
He also implored Pilgrims with terminal illnesses to consult the medical doctors among the Lagos contingent regularly.
Speaking further, Dr. Isa- Muhammed discouraged pilgrims living with ulcer and diabetes from taking orange but recommend other fruits for their consumption as they will make them stay healthy during and after hajj exercise.
Meanwhile, Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef has announced One day pre-movement to Muna prayers for Lagos pilgrims at House Oneon Tuesday, 6thSeptember, 2016; House Two will be on Wednesday, 7th September, 2016 while House Three is scheduled forThursday, 8th September, 2016.
