Today Host Suspended over Trump Tape

NBC has suspended television personality, Billy Bush from the “Today’’ show after fallout over the host’s 2005 taped lewd conversation with U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The development was captured on a show memo seen by Reuters on Sunday. The suspension comes as a flood of Republicans have withdrawn their support for Trump over the video that emerged on Friday showing the businessman, then a reality TV star, talking with Bush on an open microphone. In the recorded conversation, Trump was conversing on a bus with Bush, then host of NBC’s “Access Hollywood,’’ ahead of a segment they were about to tape. NBC said Bush had been suspended indefinitely from the “Today’’ show, where he hosts the third hour of programming. Noah Oppenheim, the executive in charge of the morning show, wrote in a memo to staff that “there is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape.’’ Oppenheim said: “NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further rev...

OMG: Donald J. Trump now the official Rrepublican Presidential Nominee

Terrill) CLEVELAND —  Donald J. Trump officially became the Republican  presidential nominee Tuesday evening, the key moment of a convention day that went much more smoothly for the candidate and his party. “Congratulations, Dad, we love you!” Donald Trump Jr. said in casting the votes for the Trumps’ home state of New York. Following convention tradition, the candidate’s home state was allowed to deliver the votes that  officially made him the nominee . Trump’s campaign managed to avoid a replay of Monday, when a floor fight erupted over the convention’s rules. It was considered a precursor to a possible insurgent attempt to challenge Trump’s nomination on Tuesday, but the effort never materialized. Even Colorado, which briefly walked out of Monday’s session in protest, cast its v...

WOMEN SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR ILLEGAL ABORTIONS - DONALD TRUMP

Donald Trump faces mouth-lash amid recent utterance for women committing abortion to be punished Donald Trump has riled up women and abortion-rights supporters, again, in his recent controversial comment on abortion. The Republican presidential front-runner said that ‘ there would “have to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions if the procedure were outlawed in the US’.  This is just one of Trump’s many comments on women issues which has made him a not-so-loved candidate for women and several activists. Kate Black of Emily’s List, a group committed to electing female Democrats who support abortion rights, said:  “If Trump’s words about women – calling us ‘disgusting’, ‘slobs’ and ‘fat pigs’ – didn’t scare us, this should”. Meet the woman who may be America’s next first lady

Share this on WhatsApp Melania Trump, 45, is the woman behind the man, Donald Trump. She is said to be a calming influence on the republican maverick, a trait Americans will be grateful for if he makes it to the white house. What’s more, she speaks five languages so she’ll more than hold her own in those diplomatic shindigs. She was born the daughter of a car dealer in communist-era Yugoslavia, her upbringing was humble but certainly not one of hardship as her family was well-off enough to afford holidays. She met The Donald at a party when she was 28 and he was 52, the pair got married at a lavish $1million ceremony in 2005 and welcomed son, Barron a year later. She was successful in her right before she met the mogul as she had modelling gigs around the world aged 17, however, she has had to beat off rumours that she married him just for his money. What attracted her to him then? ‘His mind, his amazing mind’ she says. If her husband does make it to the White House, ...

A Donald Trump Rally in Georgia Goes Dark and The candidates Like it

On a darkened stage, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump gives the thumbs up after his speech at Georgia World Congress Center on Sunday. Hyosub Shin, hshin@ajc.com History books are replete with cults of personality.  Mao Zedong, Eva Peron, Charles DeGaulle, even Vladimir Putin. In Georgia, Gene Talmadge had one going back in the day. But modern Georgians have had no chance to glimpse one – until Sunday, when Donald Trump came to Atlanta and the Georgia World Congress Center, one day after his victory in the South Carolina presidential primary. What is a cult of personality? You can find variations, but one good definition is when a figure, usually political but sometimes religious, overshadows the movement he or she represents. Remove the personality and the movement disappears. What is Trumpism without Donald Trump? That’s hard to say, which is precisely the point. All revolves around the leader. You might have thought that Sunday’s rally of Trump supporters was...

One more thing Donald Trump has broken: The GOP’s evangelical base

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. (right) presents Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump with a sports jersey after he delivered the convocation at the university in Lynchburg, Va., last week. Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images On Wednesday evening, Donald Trump shared  the TV screen with Bill O’Reilly, who on behalf of his network pressed – unsuccessfully – the billionaire to end his feud with Fox News and attend the final Republican presidential debate in Iowa. O’Reilly reminded Trump that “in your Christian faith,” forgiveness would be the proper path. “It probably is, but it’s called ‘an eye for an eye,’ also. You could look at it that way, too,” Trump replied. Upon receipt of this news, Russell Moore threw up his hands. Digitally, anyway. “I can’t even start with this. Good night,” the Southern Baptist leader tapped out on his Twitter feed. In his quest for the White House, Donald Trump has broken many things, including laws of political ...
