Police in Nasarawa State on Friday allegedly shot four workers as the Nigeria Labour Congress began talks with the State Government over the protracted labour crisis rocking the state. NLC President Ayuba Wabba told newsmen at the Police Clinic in Lafia that the workers were allegedly shot by a policeman at the gate of the Government House where they had gone to await the outcome of the NLC meeting with Gov. Umaru Al-Makura. Workers in the state had embarked on an indefinite strike following the decision of the state government to slash their salary by 50 per cent. According to Wabba, one of the workers has died, while three others, including a lady are being treated for gun shot wounds at the clinic. FLORIDA – A salon is under investigation after a teenager contracted HIV after getting a hair weave at a the salon. According to report, the teenager contracted the virus after receiving a popular sewn-in hair style. The procedure of the hair style calls for braiding of the natural hair, then attaching human hair or synthetic hair that is wefted, usually referred to as “tracks”, to the braid using a sewing method including a needle and thread. According to the teenager, while receiving the sew in weave, her scalp was punctured several times with the needle, causing bleeding in the scalp which later became scab wounds.

A text message from the spokesman of South Sudan’s First Vice President Riek Machar was the incendiary material behind the violence that has killed 272 people in Juba, an envoy has claimed. South Sudan’s ambassador to Kenya Chol Ajong claimed Mr James Gatdet Dak alerted the forces allied to Dr Machar of their leaders’ “detention” at the presidential palace even though he was having a formal meeting with President Salva Kiir. Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State, has recorded a medical breakthrough when a team of medical researchers in the institution produced a mixture for the treatment of patients with damaged livers. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwole Amusan, who disclosed this to pressmen yesterday during a press briefing ahead of the second convocation of the university scheduled for July 17, 2016, said that a human volunteer had been cured of a liver problem when the drug was tested on him.
