Suicide bombers suspected to be loyal to Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday morning detonated bombs along Maiduguri Damboa road in the fringes of the metropolis. The explosions killed no fewer than nine persons and injured 24, but still counting as casualty figures could rise.
The second explosion occurred close to an Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) camp.
A witness said “Bomb blast in Bakassi IDP Camp of Maiduguri and the second bomb blast at NNPC Depot Damboa Road.”
As the security and response agencues moved to the two scenes of the explosions, PRNigeria gathered that 9 dead bodies and 24 injured victims have been recorded so far.
The Spokesperson of National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) in Maiduguri, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, only confirmed the efforts of rescue and health workers in the evacuation of wounded victims to hospitals for treatment while the dead bodies have been deposited in the mortuary.
