Melaye berated over alleged uncomplimentary remarks about Edo gov’s wife

Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Dino Melaye, has been berated over his uncomplimentary remarks about the wife of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Mrs Iara Oshiomhole. Melaye, who represents Kogi-West senatorial district, while contributing to a motion by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, which advocated the patronising of products made in Nigeria, was quoted as saying that Nigerians should not emulate Governor Oshiomhole, who, he said, opted not to “patronise made-in-Nigeria women but a foreign one.”

A former aide to Governor Oshiomhole, John Mayaki, in a statement, yesterday, said: “Melaye veered off the radar on the issue of made-in-Nigeria products which for me cannot and should not include made-in-Nigeria women, if the intention of the initiator of the motion is not to be misconstrued. Iara Oshiomhole is doing well for Nigeria and Edo people and does not deserve the categorization Melaye attempted to taint her with.

“Mrs. Oshiomhole’s We Care Trust, her pet project whose goal is to care for the welfare of children, provides education for the girl-child, vocational training for the youths and empowerment for women has just empowered about 36 individuals across the 18 local government areas of Edo State.

She had envisioned a society where, though challenging, resources are equitably and sustainably managed for the benefit of all particularly in a manner that the poor and needy can thrive and succeed. “I want to call on Nigerians, including my friend Dino Melaye to encourage Mrs. Oshiomhole to do more for the Nigerian child than the confusion he attempted to make between made-in-Nigeria product and made-in-Nigeria Women. I want to congratulate her for the feat her pet project, “We Care Trust”, achieved on Wednesday just when Melaye was making his uncomplimentary remark.”

ONE LITTLE GIRL: an interesting story of a shoe Addict

I find Imelda Marcos story very interesting. Thought of sharing. Enjoy ONE LITTLE GIRL  Once upon a time there was a little girl. She was a beautiful little girl, everyone agreed. She had dark hair, pale skin and almond eyes. And she sang like an angel. Everyone agreed on that too. Until she was 10 our little girl lived in the big city. It was a sprawling, bustling, filthy place. She lived in a hovel. Well, it wasn’t so much a hovel as a rundown garage. And, when the wind blew at night, the doors and shutters creaked and banged and she was very afraid. And every year when the fierce monsoon rains wreaked their vengeance on the earth the floor of the garage flooded and the little girl’s bare feet were cold and wet. One night in a fearsome storm our little girls’ mummy died – “of pneumonia”, they said, but our little girl didn’t understand. And so she and her widowed father and her five brothers and sisters left the garage in the big city and went to live on a tropical ...
