Sheriff emerges new PDP chairman

A former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, on Tuesday emerged the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, who announced this at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, said all organs of the party, including, the national caucus, the governors’ forum and the national assembly caucuses agreed on Sherffi’s choice as chairman.

The decision, according to Metuh, would be communicated to the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) for ratification.

Battle! Battle! Battle! Airforce Deploys More Fighter Jets to Battle Niger Delta Avengers

Isah Caroline The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed additional aircraft to the Niger Delta in support of the military operations code named “OPERATION PULO SHIELD” against militancy, economic sabotage and all forms of criminalities in the South-South region of the Country. The deployment, according to Airforce spokesman, Group Capt. Ayodele Famuyiwa, was necessitated by the recent spate of attacks on the Nation’s oil and gas installations by the new militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). He said the additional platforms, comprising fighter aircraft, helicopter gunship and surveillance aircraft, are intended to enhance the capability of the NAF to undertake offensive air operations and intelligence gathering in support of the surfaces forces.
