"Common Man”, “Dry”, “Road to Yesterday”, “Silver Rain”, "Stigma”, “The Refugees" and "The Visit” battle for the title of Best Movie in West Africa at the AMVCA.
“Common Man”, “Dry”, “Road to Yesterday”, “Silver Rain”, "Stigma”, “The Refugees" and "The Visit” have been nominated in the Best Movie – West Africa (Drama/Comedy)category at the 2016 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The year's awards is set to hold in March 5, 2016

“Common Man” – Stanlee Ohikhuare
“Common Man ” is a conscience film directed and produced by Ohikhuare. It features Nollywood actors like Deyemi Okanlawon and Kiki Omeili.
“Dry“ – Stephanie Linus
“Dry” inspired by a real life story portrays the lives of two girls forced to become child brides.
The movie features Darwin Shaw as Dr. Alex, the legendary Liz Benson Ameye as the Matron and Bill McNamara as Dr. Brown.
“Dry”, also stars Zubaida Ibrahim asHalima, the teenager who had to endure a life not designed for a child.
Stephanie Linus plays multiple roles in this film – she produced, directed and also features as an actor in this project.
“Refugees” – Frank Rajah Arase
“Refugees” is about three singers who dream of one day being able to showcase their talent to the world and making it out of the squalor they live in.
The film features a mix of Nigerian and Ghanaian actors including Yvonne Nelson,Belinda Effah, David Chin, Ross Fleming,Okawa Shaznay, Diana Yekinni, Sahndra Fon Dufe, Anastasia Pekhtereva and Sira Bah.
“Road to Yesterday” – Chinny Onwugbenu, Genevieve Nnaji, Chichi Nwoko
Directed by Ishaya Bako,”Road to Yesterday” stars Genevieve Nnajialongside Oris Erhuero, Majid Michel,Chioma Omeruah and Ebele Okaro.
The film follows a troubled couple Victoria and her husband Izu as they try to fix their marriage on a road trip to a relative’s funeral.
“Silver Rain” – Juliet Asante
Starring Elikem Kumordzie, Enyinna Nwigwe, Joselyn Dumas and Uru Eke, “Silver Rain” is written and directed by Juliet Asante.
The love story is about Ajoa, a ‘Kayayo’ street girl from Accra, who meets Bruce, the rich heir of the Timothy fortunes. Together they attempt to jump the social barriers that stop them from being together.
“Stigma” – Dagogo Diminas
“Stigma” follows the events that occur when a local midwife is diagnosed with AIDS and she and her daughter are stigmatized and humiliated by their villagers.
The film was was produced and directed byDagogo Diminas.
“The Visit” – Biodun Stephens (Koga Studios)
Nse Ikpe Etim and Blossom Chukwujekwuare seen pushing the boundaries of conservation in the Nigerian film industry in “The Visit”.
The Koga Entertainment thriller is about two couples with different lifestyles living in the same building and how they handle conflict when their styles of living clash.
