AFCON 2017 Qualifiers: CAF Approves New Date For Egypt Clash
Feb 15, 2016
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the request made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to move Nigeria’s AFCON (African Cup of Nations) 2017 qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt from March 23rd to March 26th.
CAF has yielded to NFF’s request for three more days for the game billed for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, Kaduna State. This was made known to reporters by the NFF’s media officer Ademola Olajire.
“It will give us room to prepare well for the match. With the new date, Oliseh and his boys would have close to one week of camping and this wouldn’t have been the case if we were to play on the 23rd which is midweek,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria currently trail the Pharaohs of Egypt by two points in the race to qualify for the 2017 AFCON tournament billed for Gabon.
